Ideal for corporate, hotel, theatre, wedding, festival, college and club entertainment.

Line-up & Booking Info

"Sons and lovers" originated in Nottingham in 1966, and in that original line-up were : Spike Cowlard - guitar, vocals : Mick Franks - drums, vocals : Eddie Cooke - bass , vocals : Mick Jameson - guitar, vocals : Stephen Greenfield- vocals

They soon became very popular with their close harmony vocals, and their efforts culminated in a recording contract with Beacon / EMI records. Recordings from that period included : " Happiness is love", "Help me I'm on top of the world", "The girl I'll never know", "Hello heartaches", and "Take up the hammer".

Phil Wright joined the re-formed band in 1997 after a very successful period with another Nottingham band "Paper Lace", who he joined in 1967 as drummer and lead singer.

They were then called "Music Box", but soon after changed their name. In 1974 "Billy don't be a hero" reached number one in the UK , and later the same year "The night Chicago died" reached number one in America.

Walt Savage on keyboards/vocals joined the band in 2000 ; yet another member with a long musical history in Nottingham. In 1968 he helped form "Whichwhat" who like "Sons and Lovers" had a recording contract on Beacon. Recordings from that period included : "Gimme Gimme Good Lovin", "In the year 2525", and " Why do lovers break each others heart". Like Whichwhat, Sons and Lovers achieved greater chart success abroad than in the UK, but fans from that period, and new converts, are always ready for the next live gig.

Due to ill heath, original member Eddie Cooke left the band in early 2003, but was replaced by the excellent vocals and bass playing of Derrick Firth (ex-Dillinger country band). His own self penned composition "Twelve o-clock Feeling" charted in the mid 80's.

So there you have it, "Sons and Lovers", five guys with a memorable past, a wealth of talent, who still love performing .
