InfoFrom Birmingham, home of reggae giants UB40 and currently touring England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Europe. Rats in the Kitchen are the worlds number 1 UB40 tribute band. Line-up & Booking InfoBox- Lead Vocal & Rhythm Guitar
Focal point of the live RITK experience and a UB40 fan since their very first releases on the tiny, independent Graduate label. The ultimate exponent of the Brummie one-liner who has sweated blood, sweat and tears to ensure Rats in the Kitchen are the formidable, burgeoning musical force that they are today. Longdraw - Lead Guitar & Vocals Matt is a brilliant all-rounder. Joining the band as a roadie, he then moved on stage as a percussionist before taking over the role of lead guitarist / vocalist. The phrases "that's rock and roll man", "get one on!" and "Cor look at the size of that skirt!" can often be heard when he is around. Paul K.P - Saxophone Paul, or K.P. as he's affectionately known due to his heads remarkable similarity to a certain well known pub snack, is a great bloke to have around. Along with having the band in stitches on the road, he also manages to get a beautiful, haunting tone out of his sax. The nearest sound you'll find to the great Brian Travers himself. Cookie - Trumpet A powerful horn player with a big band background, Steve comes from the far away land of Stoke on Trent and consequently clocks up more miles than any other band member. Steve can always be called upon to go above and beyond the call of duty for the good of the band. Shed - Drums & Percussion Sheds drumming ability is second to none. His tight, driving beats have brought the whole band tighter together as a unit. He originally joined the band last summer but on our last trip to Spain and after a few too many beers (amongst various other Spanish concoctions), he fell off the kerb and smashed his leg in 3 places! After a 3 month lay off he's now back in the hot seat and playing better than ever. Bill - Bass "Come with it!" cries Box and the RITKs four-stringed dreadlock warrior duly obliges with a rumble of heavy, heavy bass. He can either be located dancing his ass off stage left behind Longdraw or, as head of RITKs acquisitions department, trying to talk the nearest bartender into a round of free drinks for the band. Freaky - Trombone The bands equivalent of Simon Rattle; teacher, composer, forever searching for the perfect brass harmony. Once graced the hallowed turf at Wembley where he got his bone out in front of 40,000 people. He has recorded with the likes of ska-punk scoundrels (SPONGE) and also nurses a hidden bhangra fixation. |
